  1. Slovakia: 1932000 ha of forests – 39,6% of country 41% - state ownership; 59% - non-state ownership

  2. Afforestation

  3. Natura 2000 payments

  4. Forest environmental measurements: conservation of favourable status of forest habitats) Protection of selected bird species biotopes submeasure: conservation of favourable status of forest habitats • Conditions for the support • Management – to ensure forest activities in compliance with the approved forest management plan, and • When renewing forest covers, to leave at least 10[PP1]  living standing trees per hectare, having the average weight of the respective wood within the renewed UFSD (unit of forest spatial division) given in FMP (Forest Management Plan); • When renewing forest stand, to realize only small-scale form of shelter management (by 1.5 hectares) or shelter wood system; • To leave at least 10 m3 wood matter per each hectare as dead wood; • To increase the share of natural woody plants renewing originate from seeds to 50%; • Not remove or damage nest trees or those with cavities marked by The State Nature Conservancy on forest land. To leave part of pioneer woody plants (topoľ osika, rod breza, vŕba rakyta) and  white beams to the end of their lives and don’t remove them within educational interventions unless their representation not exceed 20%; • Exclude using specified plant protection products on supported land (specific list of prohibited products for plant protection is published within the official publication of MoA under individual annex); • Exclude economic activity (timber harvesting, transport and machinery movement) from 1.3. to 31.7. in nesting places of threatened cavity breeding species and wild gallinacean species marked by The State Nature Conservancy on forest land; (this conditions just relate to Natura 2000 areas) • Use only biologically degraded oil.

  5. submeasure: protection of selected birds spieces habitats Conditions of the support Management – to ensure for forest activities in compliance with the approved forest management plan, and Non-interference into the vegetative and soil cover in radius 50 m from nest tree, marked by the State Nature Conservancy, all year long (inside part of protective zone – 0,785 ha) At the time of reproduction (generally 5 months within the limits from 16.2. to 31.8. according to individual species) exclude forest management activities (timber harvest, transport and machinery movement) in radius from 50 m to 300 m from nest tree, marked by the State Nature Conservancy (external part of protective zone – 27,475 ha) At the time of outside of reproduction (generally 7 months within the limits from 1.9. to 15.2 according to individual species) when renewing forest stand, to use specialized management or selection management and small-scale form of shelter management method within the limits from 50 m to 300 m from nest tree, marked by the State Nature Conservancy * (external part of protective zone – 27,475 ha)

  6. Restoring forestry potential and introducing prevention actions • Objective • Renewal of production potential in forests damaged by natural disasters and fires and introduction of preventive measures • This objective shall be accomplished in particular through: • To strengthen biodiversity and ecological stability of forests and to improve public functions of forests; • To lower soil erosion risk • To increase forest soil absorption potential and strengthen water management-related function of forests • To increase forests protection against fires of forests Final beneficiary (eligible applicant): Natural and legal persons managing forests owned by: Private owners and their associations Municipalities and their associations The church The state
