12 October, 1492 Dearest Family, I am the youngest person on the Santa Maria boat .Thank you for the food you gave me since we don’t have much food here. I am seasick. It has been about 2 ½ months that we’ve been at sea. The captain of the Santa Maria boat is Christopher Columbus. Every day, I wondered when we would find land. When we finally did see land, I was so happy! It was all green, and I saw things I have never seen before. I ate food I have never tasted. I saw new birds. Then we traded hawk bells and they traded glass beads to us. Sincerely, Jennifer
