  1. 12 October, 1492 Dearest Family, I hate Christopher Columbus! He treats us like chopped liver! He make us do everything. Especially, me! Columbus is acting like a pumper nickel. HELP ME PLEASE! Christopher Columbus is the captain of the Santa Maria. UGH! The Santa Maria is one of the three ships. The other two ships are called the Pinta and the Nina. I wish I would have gotten on one of the other ships with a nicer captain. The voyage lasted from 3 of August, 1492through the 12 of October, 1492. We had 89 people that sailed on three different ships. (Santa Maria, Pinta, and Nina.) Wesailed for about 2 months. I have been sick for the last 2 weeks, but I have gotten a lot better. On Thursday, 11 October, 1492 at about 10:00 PM,we finally spotted land. Around midnight ,the Pinta fired a cannon to signal we were near land. That morning we saw birds, trees, plants, and many people.

  2. 12 October, 1492 Some of the peoplewere naked and some weren’t. Some people had lots of clothes and some people didn’t have very much clothes on at all. I was very grossed out when I saw the people with no clothes. Ewwwww! The island of Guanahani is green. Well, almost every thing is GREEN! Christopher Columbus changed the name to the San Salvador. The island has lots of birds, tress, plants, and people. We have been trading with the people on San Salvador. It was very hard to understand what they were saying though. We have been trading glass beads, red caps, and some hawk bells. Hope to see all of you soon! Sincerely, Emily
