  2. Problem Solving • This presentation will discuss solving problems using information provided by the MCS-MAGNUM • Some forms of information recorded include: • Print to File, Alarm Info & Graphs • We will review solving the following 2 problems • Problem1: Unsafe Oil & No Amps • Problem2: Suct Superheat Hunting

  3. Problem1: Unsafe Oil & No Amps • We have a Print to File • We have an Alarm Info Print

  4. Print to File

  5. Print to File (System Info Portion)

  6. Print to File (Alarms Portion)

  7. Print to File (Alarm Info Portion)

  8. What Do We Do? • If we have no amps there is something mechanical holding off the power to the common of our relay. • It could be a high discharge mechanical switch? • It could be the motor overload? • It could be a circuit breaker? • Check the wiring diagram.

  9. Problem2: Suct Superheat Hunting • We have a graph showing interaction of data

  10. Graph

  11. Graph Expanded Scale

  12. Interaction of Data • When Liquid Injection comes on it drives Discharge temperature down in 1 min & 15 sec from 180F to 170F. Then, because of the large amount of refrigerant it goes down another 10F to 160F. • Next we see Suction temperature and Suction Superheat going down. • Solution Modulate Liquid Injection so it brings down discharge temperature at a slower pace and has very little overshoot.

  13. Graph (After Liquid Injection Adj)

  14. Graph (After Liquid Injection Adj)

  15. Results After Adjustments • When Liquid Injection comes on now it drives Discharge temperature down in 7 to 12 min depending on load. The overshoot is usually less than 1 F. • Next we see Suction temperature remains steady to maybe .5 F • So by analyzing the interaction of data we can pinpoint the problem an resolve.
