  1. Innovators and Early Adopters of Smartboards and what persuades them to adopt the innovation: • Within my school district, it depends on who the teacher is asking to purchase the Smartboard. In the case we are currently in, our entire district is replacing all whiteboards with Smartboards so the district itself had to be “sold” on the idea before purchasing that many. They had to see how spending this amount of money was truly going to benefit the teachers and students. • Teachers and Principals were used to persuade our school board to utilize this kind of money to upgrade all of the classrooms within the school.

  2. Laggards within the school and the strategies used to help them move towards utilizing Smartboards • Teachers that aren’t comfortable implementing technology within their classrooms will be the ones resisting this change. Many of them will use the Smartboard as if it is the traditional white board they are used to. • As a technology teacher and trainer at my school, I will visit the classrooms on a regular basis making sure the teachers feel comfortable with this new piece of technology. I will make sure each teacher is well trained before the students arrive in August. I will be readily available to answer any questions they might have.

  3. Which combination of perceived attributes would be best for helping your innovation meet critical mass in your industry? • With the group of teachers that encompass my school, I will be using both face-to-face training and online training on how to use the Smartboard and how beneficial it will be for the teacher as well as the students.
