  5. Congratulations!!! • Senior, Candace Brooke Locklear and Junior, Alexander Lee McGirtwas named Student of Excellence for the 2012 School Year. They will be recognized February 14th at the PSRC Board Meeting.

Jagannathan Scholarship for 2012-2013 • Seniors who plan to attend a constituent institution of UNC may apply for the Jagannathan Scholarship valued at $2,000. • To apply students must complete the application online at www.cfnc.org or www.cfnc.org/seaastudentudent . • Application and the CSS PROFILE must be completed by February 16, 2012.

Golden LEAF Scholarship • This award is valued at $12,000 ($3,000 per year for up to four years) for students from qualifying rural counties who plan to attend a participating NC campus in the fall. • Must be a NC resident and demonstrate financial need. • Application and qualifying counties can be viewed at www.CFNC.org/goldenleaf. • DEADLINE: March 1, 2012

  21. Lumbee River EMC • Scholarships worth $4,000 are availabe for students who plan to attend a four year university and $1,200 for those who plan to attend a two-year college. • Must be a senior whose parents or guardians are members of the cooperative. • Applications are available in guidance or online at Lumbee River EMC Community. • DEADLINE: March 2, 2012

  23. 2012 “People Helping People” Scholarship • Must be a US citizen and a resident of NC under NCGS 116 143.1 and is eligible for in-state tuition. • Exemplify the membership leadership, excellence of character, integrity and community involvement. • Applicants should not be a director, employee, or family member of an employee of the State Employee’s Credit Union or the SECU Foundation. • DEADLINE: April 5, 2012

  25. Financial Aid Workshop • Financial Aid Counselors from UNC-Pembroke will be at PurnellSwett Saturday February 25, 2012 from 9:00-12:00 to assist students in completing their FAFSA form. • Please bring W-2/ 2011 tax returns. Parents are encouraged to attend.

  26. Selective Service • If you are a man ages 18-25 and living in the US, then you must register with Selective Service. According to law a man must register with Selective Service within 30 days of his 18th birthday. • Register at any Post Office or online at http://ww.ss.gov

  27. UNC Chapel Hill • If you are interested in attending UNC Chapel Hill and you are a Junior. Please come by to see Ms. Karen. • We can only take the first 15 students who register for Project Uplift.

  28. SAT & ACT Announcement • Seniors and Juniors: If you eat free or reduced lunch you may be eligible for a fee waiver for the SAT Test and College Applications. See your Guidance Counselor for information.

  31. Special Olympics Robeson County Spring Games • Wed March 21stall schools are expected to have athlete representation. All forms (intent to participate, athlete registration, participation and release, young athlete registration and release) are due Wed, Feb 22nd

  35. African American Student Organization: • There will be an African American Student Organization meeting held on Tuesday, February 14th, immediately after school in the media center.

  36. Listen Up Early Dismissal Kids • Early Release pictures for ones leaving after 2nd period. • Come to the Senior Commons after 2nd period to take your I.D. picture. • Ms. Venega will have finished I.D. for those leaving after 2nd, Wednesday, Feb. 8 in Guidance.

  37. Online Classes • Online classes have started, please make sure you log on to the website. If you need your username and password, please see your grade level counselor!

  38. Driver’s ED • The next Driver’s ED will begin on Feb. 13th from 3:10-5:10 pm in MBL 1. Students who are 15 or older, or will be 15 by May 31st may sign up at the sign in/tardy desk, or see Ms. Nancy Hunt or Walt Locklear.

  39. Driver’s ED • If a student signs up for Driver’s ED and then drops the class, they must wait until al students have had a chance to take Driver’s ED before signing up again. Students who don’t attend the first day of class will not be allowed to enroll on the second day unless they bring a doctor’s note.

  40. FFA Members • Please be reminded that our Flower Delivery to Sarah’s Home Care is scheduled for Tuesday, February 14th, 2012 (Valentine’s Day). • Meet at 700 hall @ 5:30pm.
