  29. NEW AGENDA FOR PUBLIC HEALTH ALL OVER THE WORLD The Mediterranean basin has historically inherited all its countries major cultural traditions and has defined identities. Such a characteristic identity for the Mediterranean area is nutrition, the Mediterranean diet South Europe & Mediterranean countries, more specifically: Ø  can offer to Europe and the world a new agenda for public health, stemming deep from their traditions Ø  can produce naturally most food ingredients, with enhanced nutrition claims (Health claims) 29
