UT Board of Regents Limit Total Academic Cost Increases • Total Academic Cost increases capped at 3.95% or $280 per year for a student taking 30 SCH, whichever is greater • Cap is net of mandatory fees increased by student referenda
Proposed Fee Changes Mandatory Fee Increases • Athletic Fee +$2 / SCH each year (authorized by referendum – doesn’t count against the cap) FY 2011 $15/SCH + 15% FY 2012 $17/SCH + 13% Maximum paid is 12 SCH – Adds $48/year to full time students taking 12 SCH or more for both years
Proposed Fee Changes Mandatory Fee Increases • Medical Services Fee +10% over 2 years Students pay the same amount whether taking 1 or 15 SCH per semester. FY 2011 $31.45 each semester + 6% ($3.50/year increase) FY 2012 $32.70 each semester + 4% ($2.50/year increase)
Proposed Fee Changes Mandatory Fee Decrease • Energy Fee will be reduced by <19%> in FY 2011 from $35 per student per semester to $28.50 • Result of UT System directive to review utility costs and rates – new facility costs should be borne from designated tuition • Annualized savings of $13 per student
Proposed Tuition Rates • Designated Tuition rates: • FY 2011 $131.75 / SCH +$10.90 (+9%) • A full time student taking 30 SCH per year will pay $327 more • FY 2012 $142.75 / SCH + $11.00 (+8%) • A full time student taking 30 SCH per year will pay $330 more 20% of the increase is set aside for financial aid by law
