You received 5 literacy Lessons: • Lesson 1:Strategies for making inferences. • Lesson 2: Strategies for answering multiple choice questions. • Lesson 3:Using a graphic organizer and the rubric to help you write a response to something you read. • Lesson 4:Using a graphic organizer and the rubric to help you write a free response question. • Lesson 5:Using a graphic organizer and rubric to help you write a summary question.

  3. You practiced what you learned during the lessons

  4. Today is TESt Day!

  5. You may use the following from your folder:- To help you make inferences: It Says, I Say and So.- To help you organize ideas: 3 different graphic organizers (writing a reading response, writing an “On my own” response and writing a summary paragraph). There is more…

  6. - To help with transitions between sentences: Useful transitions and linking expressions.- To help you remember the criteria: The writing rubrics from lessons 3, 4 and 5. Bring these pages out of your folder.

  7. The practice test consist of:a) two reading selections:b) one on my own short WRITTEN answer 1. HUGE MURAL MARKS A GRAFITTI PHILOSOPHY 2. Ice sculptures

  8. You will receive Four double sided pagesPage 1: The TWO readings (one on each side).Page 2: The TWO sets of Multiple choice questions (one reading’s MC questions on each side). Page 3: The TWO Answer pages for each reading. (you will write your name and student number on this page).Page 4: The “on my own” short writing task. the answer page is the only page you hand in for evaluation.

  9. Don’t mix up the question and answer sheets!

  10. 2 1 3 This is the Mural Graffiti set. Keep them together when you are working on the Mural reading selection.

  11. 2 1 3 This is the Ice Sculpture set. Keep them together when you are working on the Ice Sculpture reading selection. .

  12. Use pencils or pens. You may want an eraser. You may use a highlighter to mark important texT.

  13. Bring out your It says, I say and so prompt sheet to support you answering the implicit questionsBring out the graphic organizer templates to support you answering the short written response questions.Bring out a written response rubric so you can keep the criteria in mind while writing. Anything else?

  14. When you are finished • Check your work over. • Complete the feedback form on the reverse side of your free response answer page. • Wait quietly for others to finish.

  16. Are you readyto start the test? ALMOST!

  17. Be Test Mindful. The rubric tells you what EQAO wants. The rubric says: • Do this, this, this and this and you get marks for your work. • Do this, this, this or that and you don’t get marks for your work. • You choose. EQAO has told you what they are looking for. No surprises.

  18. Begin Now!

  19. Time is up • Be sure your name and student number are on the answer pages. 2. Hand in the Mural/Ice Sculpture answers sheet. 3. Hand in your “If your school could offer a new course” short written answer.
