  1. AD-CONS Cost & Schedule reviewBeam instrumentation L. Søby, L. Warming Jørgensen Special thanks to the contributions of S. Burger, M. Fernandes,

  2. Outline • Orbit measurement system • BCCCA • BTV for target AD-CONS Cost & Schedule review 21-09-2018

  3. New Orbit measurement system • Measurement of orbits all along the deceleration cycle, when beam is bunched • Resolution <100um • Acquisition system based on VXS card with FMC-ADC, developed BE-RF • Support highly appreciated • Status • Operational since > 1 year • Similar system as ELENA and LEIR • Spares produced in 2018, MDDS spares 2019 • Code 64515: 2018: 91kCHF, 23kCHF 2019 IBIC2015 - ProceedingsMelbourne, Australia A New Orbit System for the CERN Antiproton Decelerator http://accelconf.web.cern.ch/accelconf/ibic2015/papers/tupb058.pdf AD-CONS Cost & Schedule review 21-09-2018

  4. BCCCA Bayonet Connection • Status • Current and intensity measurement provided at end of cycle • Fully integrated in FESA • Expert GUI has been developed • PLC system available to control cryogenic system Helium Vessel Beam Tube IBIC2015 - ProceedingsMelbourne, Australia A Cryogenic Current Comparator for the Low-Energy Antiproton Facilities at CERN Thermal Shield CCC http://accelconf.web.cern.ch/accelconf/ibic2015/papers/mopb043.pdf Outer Jacket AD-CONS Cost & Schedule review 21-09-2018

  5. BCCCA Limitations • Measurement only possible at end of cycle (due flux-jump at injection) • Study improvement in slew-rate limitation • Modify coupling circuit in SQUID cartridge / add EM filter inside cryostat (to be studied) • Integration with Vistar • Superconducting connection in DC coupling circuit kept only for limited range • Currently compensated by imposing a constant DC current • Replace SQUID cartridge with improved niobium wire connections (to be studied) • Cryogenic availability • LHe circuit becomes contaminated blocking the He gas flow in the closed-circuit • He diffusion through ceramic breaks degrades insulation vacuum AD-CONS Cost & Schedule review 21-09-2018

  6. BCCCA Costestimate for LS2 activities • Code 64516: 2018: 81kCHF, 31kCHF left 2019: 20kCHF, 2020: 11kCHF • Cryogenic(2019): 10kCHF • Spare turbo pump: 3500 CHF • Regulatedgasvalve: 3500 CHF • Other componentes: 2000 CHF • Electronics(2019): 10kCHF • New cartridgeand SQUID: 5000 CHF • New sparefront-endelectronics+box: 1000 CHF • Cable for cryostatinstrumentation: 1500 CHF • B-train / white-rabbitconversion: 2500 CHF • Other (2020): 11kCH AD-CONS Cost & Schedule review 21-09-2018
