End of the Civil War • 1.General Lee surrendered the Confederate Army to General Grant at Appomattox Courthouse, VA on April 9, 1865. • 2. Terms of the Surrender: • a. officers and Confederate soldiers were granted a pardon by Abraham Lincoln • b. Confederates had to lay down their arms (guns) • c. Confederate Army promised to never fight against the Union. II. The End of the War
