  2. Why the panic disorder is a disorder? • Maladaptivity • Unjustifiable behavior • Disturbing behavior • Atypical behavior.

  3. Symptoms • Intense episodes of extreme anxiety • Rapid heartbeat • Perspiration • Dizziness • Trembling • Sweating • Shortness of breath • Sensation of chocking

  4. Possible Causes • Psychological perspectives • a connection with major life transitions; • Graduating from college • Entering the workplace • Getting married • Having a baby • Stress • Death of a loved one

  5. Possible Causes • Biological perspectives • medical conditions • other physical causes • Mitral valve prolapse • Hyperthyroidism • Hypoglycemia • Stimulant use • Medication withdrawal

  6. Therapy • Cognitive behavioral therapy • Cognitive therapy + behavior therapy • Change self-defeating thoughts and inappropriate behaviors • Advantage • Rapidly find the way of dealing problem • Short term • Disadvantage • Fairly new as a model
