Mandatory public insurance • PT: 75% private, 25% mandatory public insurance • Claim is limited to > 20 treatments + € 350 own risk; • For specific chronic diseases and post-surgery only • Leads to less accessibility • Core message KNGF: • PT is (cost)effective; • prevents higher costs further up the chain; • Better in- Better out. • We support and promote research on this specific topic • + Lobby, PR and PA to stakeholders and parliament

Private insurance • Economic crisis leads to more and more reluctancy to take this kind of insurance • The KNGF tries to open new markets: healthy at work, healthy ageing etc. • Emphasis on the surplus value and cost-effectivness of Physical therapy • New clients: employers, pension funds, labour unions, unions of employers etc.

Extended scope • Direct access since 2006 • Enormous success: 50% of the patients are self-referred • Next step: extended scope (policy aim) • Question: what is your experience on the topic: • Referring for diagnostic intervention (Rö; MRI,CT) • Referral to medical specialist (consultant): orthopedics, surgery, neurology • Prescribing medication • Administer injections
