  3. Shemot/Exodus 13:17-17:16 Beshalach (When he let go) “God with Us”

  4. God Leads the People • God led the people into the wilderness to the Red Sea. • Moses took the bones of Joseph. • The pillar of cloud by day. • The pillar of fire by night.

  5. Pharaoh Chases Israel • Pharaoh and all his army, chased after Israel. • Wanted to make the Jewish slaves again. • The Jewish people saw them coming and became very frightened. • The Jewish people complained to Moses.

  6. The Sea Divides • Do not fear! • The LORD swept the sea back • The sons of Israel went through the midst of the sea on the dry land • The crazy Egyptians followed. • The Egyptian army drowned. • The Lord saved Israel

  7. The LORD Provides Water • Israel was 3 days in the wilderness and had found no water. • They traveled to a place called Marah. • The water was bitter. • The LORD changed the water from bitter to sweet.

  8. The LORD Provides Manna • Bread from heaven. • The people needed to gather the bread only what they needed for one day. • On the sixth day they gathered twice as much. • They said to one another, “What is it?” • The special bread was called Manna.

  9. The Lord Provides Meat • The people got tired of eating the same thing. • They wanted meat to eat as well. • Quail in the evening. • Quail is a small bird that typically runs on the ground.

  10. Water in the Rock • Again the people complained about the lack of water. • The LORD instructed Moses to stand before the rock at a place called Horeb. • The LORD instructed Moses to strike the rock. • Water flowed out of the rock.

  11. Amalek Fought • Moses told Joshua to build an army and fight against Amalek. • Joshua and his army fought against Amalek • Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill to watch the battle. • Joshua defeated the Amalek and won the battle.

  12. Yeshua in the Stories • We can see Yeshua in many parts of this story. • The LORD loves you and wants the very best for you. • God is with us all the time. • Immanuel means God with us!

  13. Yeshua and the Rock • When Moses was told by the LORD to strike the rock. • Reminds us that Yeshua was struck while he was hanging on the cross. • When Yeshua died on the cross he gave us Living Water. • The Living Water that Yeshua gives us brings salvation to us and washes away our sins.

  15. What Did We Learn Today? • God wants to protect us and provide what we need. • God performed miracles to save Israel and he will provide miracles for you too. • Yeshua, the Rock, is the only source of Living Water or Mayim Chayim.
