White Elephant Gift Exchange

Rules

  • Gifts should be valued as close to $5 as is reasonable
  • The gift should be something fun, but useful (such as an interesting kitchen gadget, game, etc)
  • Everyone who brings a gift will receive one
  • When you bring your gift to the table you will draw a piece of paper with a number on it
  • When your number is called you may either take a wrapped gift from the table or you may choose to “steal” the gift someone else just unwrapped
  • If a gift is stolen from you, you may steal another gift (but NOT the one just taken from you) or choose another gift from the table to unwrap
  • The fourth “owner” of a gift gets to keep it – it is “dead” after it’s been stolen 3 times
  • “Live” gifts must be kept visible and you must hold them up when requested
  • The gift exchange ends when the last wrapped gift is opened
