  11. Goals of the Course • To participate in activities such as oral histories, first person interpretations, simulations, living histories, web page design, multimedia development, and various other projects throughout the year.

  12. Class Materials: You will need the following materials for my class: • A Brain. No zombies allowed • Paper • Pens and pencils • Comp Note book • FMS Computer *If you have concerns or need help acquiring the required materials please feel free to let me know and I will make accommodations.

  13. Policies and Grading System • You are all close to adults now and it is time that you take responsibility for your own actions and behaviors along with coming ready and prepared to work everyday. • Come prepared to work and ready to learn Challenge yourself and not others Be respectful

  14. Start of Class Procedure: • When you enter the classroom, please go quietly to your assigned seat and get out your materials for the day • Start on your Quick Start which will be posted on the board. This should occur before the bell rings. • If you finish you assignment early sit quietly until the other students have appropriate time to finish. • On some occasions their will be no warm up. In this case sit at your desk quietly. “No Wonderers”

  15. Seating • Obviously there is assigned seating • Make sure your in you seat working when the bell rings. • You will have limited time on your Quick Start, so make sure that you get started right away. • If you finish early- sit quietly, read a book or work on work from another class I have the right to move and change assign seatsat any time

  16. Cell Phones

  17. I Pods And MP3s I-pods and Mp3 players are not allowed or classroom use. On some occasions you might need them for a class activity. In that instance I will let you know prior to the instruction taking place. It’s a school wide rule  Keep your ear buds at home

  18. Make up- work Policy If you are gone for a parent verified absence or excused school activity, you have 48 hours in which to submit assignments missed. Long-term (assigned with two weeks prior notice or more) projects, assignments, tests, etc., do not apply to this rule. Long-term projects and essays are due on or before the original due dates.

  19. Make up- work Policy • If you have any missing assignments beyond the 48-hour submission time period (for any reason), you may still turn in your assignments.  However, you will only have 2 weeks after the assignments' original due dates in which to submit them.  In addition, these LATE assignments will only count for a maximum 50% of the original scores you would have received had the assignments been on time.  After the 2-week time period, no late assignments will be accepted for a grade.

  20. Passes • Each student is only allowed one pass a week. • To go the restroom, simply raise your hand placing your thumb up, if passes are left on the board and I will release you. • You must go to the restroom in lower C. • When you go to the restroom I will stamp your comp folder. You have 5 passes per semester • I must give you the ok to use the restroom. • If a student takes excessive amount of passes, wanders in the halls, goes to the snack bar, or is meeting friends at a particular time, he or she will lose her those privilege . So Don’t ruin it for everyone else

  21. Participation • As in the real world, in the work force you’re not only evaluated on your work but also work ethic and interactions with others in the work environment. • Every student will receive a participation grade worth about one full assignment a week. • This grade is tallied every week and is based of your participation in group work, attendance, promptness on assignments “getting started”, and class behavior. • This can truly help or hurt your grade in my class. In past years this participation inlay has proved very beneficial to students.

  22. Food Nutrition is an essential part of effective learning. But we have carpet so no food, but gum and hard candy ok. If gum or drinks become and issue with cleanliness, privileges will be lost. *keep the class clean and the custodians happy, so we can all enjoy gum in the class. So Don’t ruin it for everyone else

  23. Grading System • Grading Scale: • 100-90= A • 80-89 = B • 70-79 = C • 60-69 = D • 59 & Below = F • Semester Grades will consist of two nine week grades • 40%, 40%, and the semester exit exam weighed at 20%

  24. Other stuff • Extra Credit- Various extra credit opportunities will be available throughout the year. Teacher will inform you on them as they come up. • Agenda: An agenda will be posted at the front of the classroom. I should never get the question: What are we doing today? It’s all there on the board.

  25. Other stuff • Fire Drill- Leave all items. • Exit out the door to the parking lot. Dirt • It is very important that you stand near your classmates. • Get in a single file line and the attendance recorder will take a class count.

  26. Other stuff • Work- Turn in to the box by my desk

  27. So Don’t ruin it for everyone else or you and your classmates more work 

  28. Last but not least! • Attitude!!! • Education, leaning, and life is all about this key word. You come in with a positive attitude and you will ultimately have a positive experience. You come in with a negative attitude and you will more than likely have a negative experience. .

  29. Closing • I Challenge you! Come in this class with a positive attitude and an open mind and we will have an amazing, positive, beneficial and memorable classroom experience.
