The Charters Towers Police Division conducted an environmental scan revealing low socio-economic conditions, with over 46% of the population earning less than $400 per week. This has led to boredom, truancy, and a lack of youth opportunities. The J.A.Y.S. Project seeks to address these issues through community consultation, identifying government and community agency support, and facilitating engaging outdoor activities for youth. Aiming to provide training and resources for local leaders and volunteers, this initiative is focused on creating a better future for the region's youth.
