  1. POSITIONSAVAILABLE Researchers in biophotonics JOB DESCRIPTION DESIRED PROFILE INO is Canada’s leading center of expertise in applied optics and photonics, serving companies both large and small. Founded in 1985 as a private, nonprofit corporation, INO provides contract R&D to industry and maintains a significant internal research program. INO designs and develops innovative custom solutions that incorporate the latest advances in optics and photonics technology. To date, INO has developed over 2,000 custom applications in such fields as aerospace, security and defense, biomedical, agrifood, the environment, industrial processes, transportation, forestry and telecommunications. For example, our innovations in biophotonics have found applications in optical mammography, molecular imaging and hypoglycaemic monitoring. During 2003, INO generated total revenues of $26 million. The Institute employs 200 people at its 189,500 sq.ft. facility, which houses cutting edge laboratories, sophisticated equipment, and state-of-the-art clean rooms. As a member of the biophotonics team, you will participate in the research and development of optical systems for biomedical or agri-food applications. Within a multidisciplinary team, including physicists, chemists, biochemists and microbiologists, you will act as a biophotonics specialist. You will have occasion to interact with clients. You hold a M.Sc. or Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, biochemistry, biophysic or other related field of study and have relevant experience in developing applications related to biomedical or agri-food. You are familiar with instrumentation and techniques related to optical measurements in biological media. A knowledge of imaging and modeling in scattering media is an asset. Interested applicants should forward their résumés along with a letter of presentation to: Marcia Vernon, Biophotonics Program Manager • 2740 Einstein Street • Sainte-Foy, Québec • Canada G1P 4S4 • www.ino.ca marcia.vernon@ino.ca • Fax: (418) 657-7009
