Discovering Community Ovens: Bread Baking Traditions Around the World
When we bake bread at home in the U.S., we typically use our gas or electric ovens. However, we were intrigued to learn about community ovens that serve multiple families. To distinguish their loaves, each family imprints a unique pattern into the bread. This exploration led us to connect with students from different countries, sharing insights about their bread-baking traditions. Thank you to all contributors for your rich perspectives. We invite you to share your favorite bread types and experiences!

New stuff we learned • When we bake bread at home in the USA we use our own gas or electric ovens. We were surprised to learn about community ovens (traditional ovens) and wondered how each family would be able to tell its own loaf of bread apart from the others. We used the internet to find out that each family has its own special pattern pressed into the loaf.
