  2. Discovery Education Video: Physical Science: The Basics - Energy Energy exists in a variety of forms and can be transformed from one kind to another. Heat is one type of energy. On Earth, energy comes from a variety of sources, including the sun and falling water.

  3. Rapidly moving molecules in a warm object can “excite” molecules near the object causing them to begin moving more rapidly as well. Thermal energy can be transferred from one object or substance to another.

  4. As the rapidly moving molecules hit the slower molecules they will behave similarly to pool balls being struck.
