  1. Performance QDR #1 AAE451 – Team 3 November 25, 2003 Brian Chesko Brian Hronchek Ted Light Doug Mousseau Brent Robbins Emil Tchilian

  2. Introduction • Maximum Endurance (at cruise) • Maximum Range (at cruise) • Minimum Flight Velocity • Rate of Climb (at takeoff conditions) • Parameters Still Being Calculated • Questions

  3. Maximum Endurance (at cruise) • Endurance = 30min = Fuel / Consumptionfuel • Avg. Engine Fuel Consumption = 45.455 mL/min • Fuel Amount Needed= 2.2 lbf • If fill gas tank up completely… • Endurance = 32.5 min

  4. Maximum Range (at cruise) • Range = Endurance * Velocity • Range = 30 min * 50 ft/sec Total Range(distance covered assuming cruise velocity)= 17.045 mi Useless Fact: Team 3’s aircraft could fly 65% of a marathon without refueling!

  5. Minimum Flight Velocity Velocitymin= 29.95 ft/sec Weight = 53 lbf CLmax = 1.19 q =1.067 lbf/ft^2

  6. Rate of Climb Vv= 7.5 ft/sec D = 6.5lbf hpengine = 3.7 hp W = 53 lbf V = 33 ft/sec Prop Eff = .3

  7. Calculating Soon… • Maximum Velocity • Doing Numerical Integration • Maximum Turn Rate • Currently Rederiving Equation • Maximum Climb Angle • Currently Rederiving Equation

  8. Questions? We know you do…. Brent is a pimp
