How can YOU help? • Talk with your child about their day • Communicate with teachers • Help your child set goals • ReviewSchool Rules We have three school expectations that are enforced daily • Be Safe Be Respectful Be Ready to Learn • Check communication folder DAILY and Friday Folder every weekend so you know what is happening and can support your child • Check the kindergarten website weekly (can be found under departments on BWES website)

  7. Shoes Children will be participating in various physical activities throughout the day and need to have on shoes that are appropriate for active learning and play. Children will be excluded from PE class if they are not wearing appropriate shoes due to safety concerns

  8. Snack Information Snack is NOT a second lunch It is a short 10 minutes It is NOT provided by the teacher May include dry cereal, pretzels, crackers, yogurt, juice, fruit, veggies and other healthy foods Pack in a separate bag from lunch We accept donations.

  11. Parent Volunteers Volunteers are always welcome and needed. (starting with October) Volunteer activities may include working with small groups or individual students, preparing materials or organizing class parties.

  14. Math Common Core Mastery Curriculum Fewer objectives More focused on number sense and problem solving No longer includes fractions, time, money, or weight as measurement Counting to 100 by ones (practice this at home) Counting on from numbers other than one (start at 29 and count to 40)

Homework • Comes home on Monday and is turned in on Friday so teachers can prepare homework for the following week. • Should be completed by the child with adult supervision. • Have extra supplies at home—pencils, crayons, glue, scissors. • Set aside a time and place for homework • Will begin in October

  18. E-mail • You can e-mail teachers with questions, concerns or just to say hello ☺ • Please do not rely on e-mail to communicate about changes in dismissal procedures. Your teacher may not get to the e-mail except before and after school. Please allow 24 hours for a response.

  19. Additional Information Please fill out transportation information before you leave. Whatever is the normal dismissal or arrival should be followed the first day. • Whenever there is a change in your child’s transportation please send a note or call the school. Your child will follow their normal routine unless we have a note or phone call. • Need to know the name of a person picking up your child. We WILL check ID so make sure they bring it. • Also, put the names of all people who may be picking up your child on their Emergency forms and KEEP THESE FORMS UPDATED WITH CURRENT PHONE NUMBERS.
