  2. Kindergarten Initial Assessment • We will have staggered entry on August 26-29. Your child will only come one day during staggered entry. You will receive more information over the summer. • Kindergarten Meet the Teacher will be at 10:00 on Friday, August 30. Class lists will be posted prior to meet the teacher.

  4. Common Core • We use the Common Core Standards. Please refer to this website: http://www.ncpublicschools.org/acre/standards/ Common Core is a national curriculum that was adopted this school year.

  5. Self Help Skills Kindergarten promotes independence. Here are a list of some skills you can practice with your child at home. • Tying shoes • Toileting skills • Buttoning, snapping, zipping their clothes • Putting on their own coats • Opening and closing food containers • Blowing their nose

  6. Communication Information It is very important to communicate with your child’s teacher. There are several ways we communicate with you. • School Website • Teacher Websites • Explorer Express (PTA) • Daily Folder • Tuesday Folder • Weekly Newsletter • Email • Attendance Hotline

  7. Logistics • Transportation – buses, walkers, car riders, afterschool, and daycare vans. • Before and afterschool care is available at Weatherstone. Some daycares provide transportation to their facility. • Cafeteria- Lunch accounts (pre-pay online). Using an assigned lunch number.
