Future Developments • Science Common Core Standards by this winter • History embedded within ELA • New assessments by 2014/2015 • Common Core Assessments • Summative and Formative • PARCC • ( Replaces state-required PSAE)
Fact vs. Fiction • Curriculum will change from content based to standards based. • Using common core will diminish our current standards • Non-core classes are not included in the common core • Curriculum infuses standards and content to maximize learning • Common Core Standards are more in depth than our current state standards • Non-core classes are expected to incorporate literacy standards Myths Facts
Lane’s Goals • Examine our curriculum in English and Math to ensure it incorporates common core standards • Incorporate cross-curricular literacy common core standards • Reading, Writing, Speaking, Language(vocabulary, conventions, etc. ) • Utilize late start days for the process • Course Outlines due by April 27,2011
Good News! • We are already addressing the standards • 95% of College readiness are in common core • Content within course designs- local decision • Revision Process- 2011/2012 school year
