  1. Italy Italy is famous for its amazing shape: it’s like a boot! It’s one of the peninsulas bordered by the Mediterranean Sea.

  2. Italy and Pisa Pisa is one of the most beautiful cities of Tuscany. Tuscany is famous around the world for its historical monuments and for its landscapes; but it’s also famous for the people who were born in this region like Galileo Galilei and Leonardo da Vinci. Our school has been named after Leonardo da Vinci. Pisa is well known everywhere for the Leaning Tower and for Miracle Square (Piazza dei Miracoli) Pisa

  3. Pisa and the Arno River The town of Pisa is crossed by the Arno river, one of the main Italian rivers. The Arno is the 4th Italian river for both length and importance. Pisa Arno

  4. The Arno river crosses the town of Pisa The river Arno divides the city in two parts called “Tramontana” (north) and “Mezzogiorno”(south). Various bridges connect the two parts, the most important is the central one called “Ponte di mezzo” (Middle Bridge).

  5. Arno River and its mouth Pisa rises a few kilometers from the mouth of the Arno river (9.300 mi). The Arno in fact flows into the TyrrhenianSeaat ”Marina of Pisa” .

  6. The I.T.I.S. “Leonardo da Vinci” is a State High School for Industrial Technology Our school is very old, it was founded in 1871 , at the beginning of the Kingdom of Italy. After many changes, the school was rebuilt and transformed during the fascist period: the particular shape of M is due to the fascist leader Mussolini.

ITIS Leonardo da Vinci in Pisa • Our school has been named after Leonardo da Vinci. • Today our school is a technical Institute with different specializations: • Chemistry and Environmental Biotechnologies • Electronics • Aircraft Constructions • Mechanics • Electrotechnics • Informatics The Technical Industrial Institute (ITIS ) Leonardo da Vinci is located near the ancient city walls just behind the leaning tower of Pisa.

  10. The school area is very big: the buildings are surrounded by green wide spaces. We have numerous laboratories, special classrooms, workshops and two gymnasiums. Inside the main building there is the library, a reading room and a center print; there is also an Auditorium that is equipped for projections, video conferences.
