  3. My experiences abroad: Studied abroad in: • Valencia, Spain • Freiburg, Germany Fulbright Grant in: Koblenz, Germany

  4. Things to consider when choosing a study abroad program: • Cost of program • Location – country & city • Weather/climate • Population • Ease of travel to other places • Housing – living in a dorm or with a native family(?)

Study abroad in Valencia, Spain • Program through Univ. of Virginia • University tuition cost – same • Classes 8am – 1:00pm • Housing with Spanish family • Optional weekend trips: Barcelona, Madrid, Ibiza • Social activities: Soccer game, bullfight, dance clubs, welcome & closing parties, beach time • More info found at www.virginia.edu

Study Abroad in Freiburg, Germany • Program through Goethe Institut • Meet students from all over the world! • Classes from 8am – 1pm • Dorm/apartment style housing • Food – cook in kitchen or eat in cafeteria at University of Freiburg • Student town • Internationally recognized certificate • Receive more info at www.goethe.de

  7. Fulbright Grant • Two types: • Research grants • T.A. grants • Teach English 12 hours a week in another country

Why do the Fulbright??? • Government pays for roundtrip flight • Monthly stipend 750 Euros • Free private health insurance • Discount on train card • Meet other individuals interested in traveling and learning about foreign languages and cultures • See other countries – travel on weekends! • Free week in Berlin (paid hotel & food)
