  4. Who are we • Hablamos Juntos • SEGD • Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Pioneer Portfolio supports innovative ideas and projects that may lead to important breakthroughs in the future of health and health care.

  5. Signs That Work Goals: • Support implementation of graphic symbols based wayfinding systems in innovator health care facilities and develop best practices • Develop a sustainable on going program for national testing of graphic symbol designs through a consortium of design schools

  6. CFP Objective • Select 10 design schools to participate in the consortium and to lead this effort • Promote graphic symbol development for health care environment • Promote evidence based graphic symbol development for linguistically diverse Public Users

Highlights of CFP • Establish academic programs for wayfinding graphic symbols in health care • Form a consortium to coordinate national symbols testing with linguistically diverse Public Users • Participation Requirements (pages 7-10) • Consortium representative and collaboration • School leadership and resource commitment • Dedicated faculty and project leadership • Academic graphic symbols instruction/program

  8. How do I apply? • Deadline for the CFP - September 30, 2008 • Selection process will give priority to timely applications Applications will be accepted after the deadline. School selection will be made on a rolling basis. Up to ten schools will be selected. New

More FAQs… • Will the consortium develop the survey instruments and protocols? • Would we develop our own survey, or would we be doing this with the other schools in the consortium? • Is Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval required? • Assuming IRB approval is needed for all participating design schools will there be a review time after the development of the first public user survey? • The course timeline looks aggressive, can programs move from the First Stage Design to the First Public User Survey without IRB approval.
