The Greatest of All MiraclesActs 9:32-10:48 (pew Bible p844-846) What is the Greatest of all Miracles? • Acts 9:32-35—The Healing of Aeneas • Bedridden for 8 years • “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you!” • Big enough to wow Lydda and Sharon • All who knew about it turned to Jesus That’s a huge miracle! It caused many to believe!

The Greatest of All Miracles What is the Greatest of all Miracles? • Acts 9:36-43—The raising of Tabitha • A Christian believer, worker in the church • Died before her time • “Get up, Tabitha” • She opened her eyes, saw Peter, he helped her to her feet That is pretty large. Many believed because of this miracle

  3. The Greatest of All Miracles Lame able to walk! Dead raised back to life! Those are some huge miracles! Probably not something we will see today! If we did, do you think we’d see the same results?

  4. The Greatest of All Miracles Are they the greatest of all miracles? Are they really all that big to God? Or Is there something bigger in God’s eyes?

The Greatest of All Miracles The Preparation • Acts 9:43—Peter stayed with Simon the Tanner • But tanners were considered unclean • Religious barriers were coming down • The Holy Spirit was already with Samaritans • Acts 10:1-8—God at work in Cornelius • Religious, but he knew it wasn’t enough • A devout, praying man • A generous, giving man He led his household to God! Prayed and was benevolent!

The Greatest of All Miracles The Preparation • Acts 10:9-23—Further prep for Pete • Acceptance of the unclean • “Do not call something unclean if God has called it clean.” • Peter asked them to stay the night • But, Gentiles were considered unclean Peter was learning the lesson that Jesus died for the whole human race!

The Greatest of All Miracles Why Peter? • Angels can carry God’s message, But • They aren’t recipients of Jesus’ sacrifice • They can’t carry the Gospel of salvation • People are given that privilege • Why not Philip? • Pete was given the “keys”—Matthew 16:16 • Pete was used with Samaritans • Pete was “orthodox” Jew his whole life • Pete was the leader

  8. The Greatest of All Miracles The Refusal—v 14 • “No, Lord” • You can say, “No” • You can say, “Lord” • You cannot say “No, Lord” If you say no to Him He is not Lord! If HE is truly your Lord, you can only say, “Yes!”

  9. The Greatest of All Miracles The Message • I am only a man—v 26 • The wall between the Law and the Gentile is removed—v 28 • God shows no favoritism—v 34 • There is peace with God through Jesus—v 36 • This is why—v 37-43

The Greatest of All Miracles • This is why—v 37-43 • He helped those oppressed by Satan • The religious leaders killed him • The sacrifice for our sin • This gives us victory over sin • God raised Him back to life • This gives us victory over death • We saw Him and He appointed us to preach: • That He is Messiah • That He is Judge • That if you believe in Him your sins will be forgiven

  11. The Greatest of All Miracles The Result • They believed—v 44 • They were filled with the Spirit—v 44 • They were amazed—v 45-46 • They were obedient—v 47-48 Their lives were totally transformed! They were saved—a new creation! That is the greatest of all miracles to God!

  12. The Greatest of All Miracles How about you? • Do you believe that the “greatest of all miracles” is a transformed life? • Jesus died to make it happen • Have you experienced that miracle? • Or are you looking for something greater?
