  1. Simple Sentence Compound Sentence A simple sentence contains one IC and no SC/DC. A simple sentence may contain a compound subject, a compound verb, and any number of phrases. s s v My dog and cat play together. s v Bob rode his bicycle all summer. A compound sentence contains two or more IC and no SC/DC. The IC are usually joined by a comma and a FANBOYS (The IC may also be joined by a semicolon or by a semicolon, a conjunctive adverb, and a comma. s v s Alberto led for half the distance, and then Jared took the lead. (2 IC) v *RErerer Sentence Structure A compound-complex sentence contains two or more IC and at least one SC.
