Africa is considered to be the cradle of civilization. It is the birthplace of humanity's first societies. The people of Africa have a diverse range of religions and customs, which are mirrored in the many African culture traditions they practice. A wedding ritual is the most important cultural practise there is. These events are engrossing not just in terms of religion and theology, but also in terms of family and society. In essence, they symbolise the coming together of two families or clans.

There is no more imperative cultural tradition than a wedding ritual. These events not only engross religion and theology but also family and society. Essentially, they represent the bringing together of two families or clans.
There are also a great number of antique religious traditions that are precise to Africa. But no matter which part of Africa you are in, wedding rites are often complex, some of them lasting for several days and including numerous couples who are married at the same time. Polygamy is not unusual in many parts of African culture. For instance, in Sudan a man is acceptable with as many as four wives. In this example, the groom is expected to pay the bride’s family a set fee or bride affluence for the loss of their offspring and her labor.
