What is Multi-drug-resistant tuberculosis? • Multi-drug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR TB) • Caused by strains of the tuberculosis bacteria resistant to the two most effective anti-tuberculosis drugs available - isoniazid and rifampicin. • MDR TB can only be diagnosed in a specialized laboratory.
