  • By 1918, all states had passed compulsory attendance for at least elementary level
  • 1900-1950 Administrative Progressives shaped school reform

In order to improve student achievement, the following initiatives will be implemented:

  • tutoring
  • teacher staff development
  • consistent monitoring

Tutoring

Tutoring Schedule:

  • Failed 1 section – choose before or after school session
  • Failed 2 or more sections – mandatory after school tutoring period
  • Saturday TAKS Academy beginning in January for all students needing assistance

  • Staff development sessions will be provided on the following topics:
    • Using desegregated data
    • Subject specific instructional strategies
    • Differentiated instruction
    • Strategies for the special needs students

  • Periodic Benchmark Testing
  • Consistent administrative walkthrough in classroom and during tutoring sessions
  • Evaluation of benchmark testing results
looking to the future
Looking to the Future
  • 3rd grade and 7th grade students sample tested in 2010 showed improvement
  • New district initiatives will continue to be monitored and evaluated for improvement
