Requirements for graduation • Successfully complete required high school coursework • Take the End-of-Course Tests (EOCT) for all EOCT subjects Economics U.S. History Physical Science Biology 9th Grade Lit. American Lit. Math 1 Math 2 Coord. Algebra • Pass the Writing portion of the Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT)

Senior Attendance • Seniors with 10 or more unexcused absences per class are in jeopardy of credit denial barring the results of a mandatory appeals hearing. • Student Attendance Team • Senior Counselors • Mrs. Terriyln Rivers-Cannon, School Social Worker • Ms. Arlena Edmonds, Graduation Coach • Mr. Jeffery Holmes, Parent Liaison • Mrs. Valerie Martin, Attendance Clerk

Senior Information Night Kickoff • Thursday, September 25th at 6 p.m. • Guidance Counselors we be available to conference with each senior parents regarding student status and progress towards graduation. Please come out to discuss: • Requirements for graduation • Graduation projection summary • Course credit status • Required community service hours status • Required testing status

  6. Community Service • All students are REQUIRED to complete 75 hours of community service before completion of high school. • Community service should be completed and submitted by December 15th. • All records of community service should be logged into www.mygivingpoint.org • 100 or more documented community service hours will receive a service learning cord for graduation. Every student at Maynard H. Jackson High School can see Ms. Cindy Smith in the Service Learning Center to learn more about community service requirement and options.

Post-Secondary Options College Bound Center Program Activities and Components: • College Admission Preparation • SAT/ACT Registration Assistance • Career Development and Advisement Program • College Fairs • Motivational Speakers • Financial Aid Assistance • Learn Self-Advocacy Skills for College • Explore Assistive College Technologies Every student at Maynard H. Jackson High School can make an appointment with their counselor to meet with Ms. Chelsea Smith in the College Bound Center.

  8. Senior Class Dues • Senior Class dues are $250.00 • Deadline for payment of Senior Class dues is March 15th • Payments received by December 15th will result in a reduction of $25.00. • Payments received after March 15th will result in an additional late penalty charge of $25.00. • Senior students who have not paid Junior Class dues ($225) will be required to submit payment in order to attend the Junior/Senior prom or to participate in commencement activities. • Senior students are also responsible for any fees associated with lost textbooks and/or uniforms, Media Center fines, and JROTC equipment. • All student fees are non-refundable.

Senior Class Dues • Senior dues cover expenses associated with the following: • Cap and gown • Diploma cover • School Yearbook ($85 flat fee) • Senior trophies and awards • Decorations associated with the Visions of the Future Program • Senior token of appreciation at Visions of the Future • Programs for Visions of the Future • Fees Associated with the Graduation Ceremony • Printing costs and logistics for Commencement • Graduation transportation • Senior picnic, t-shirts, logistics, and entertainment • Class legacy gift to the school • Senior Picnic • Senior Breakfast

Senior Class Dues • Senior Class dues and/or fees may be paid in cash and money orders in the Attendance Office to Mrs. Valerie Martin at the following times: Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. OR • Online through the Maynard Jackson High School webpage Click “Quick Links” and look for “Pay School Fees Online” to make secure online payments. • Keep a copy of receipts for your records and verification

  11. Senior pictures • Senior Pictures are scheduled for October 9th . • Must pre-register for an appointment to take a picture. • You may either sign up at http://2015.cadystudios.com/session OR (800) 547-6237

Be certain to see announcements posted in the building, on our Facebook page, or on the school website.

Visions & Commencement Dress Code LADIES GENTLEMEN Black dress slacks Black dress shoes White dress shirt Black tie NO SNEAKERS OR TENNIS SHOES • Conservatively styled white dress • Flesh-toned stockings (no patterns) • White closed-toe shoes (2 inches or lower) NO STILETTOS • Stud-styled earrings. • For safety reasons, the Atlanta Civic Center is very strict about the shoe code. Your daughter will not be able to participate if the shoes do not meet these specifications. All students should note that NO flip-flops are permitted.

  15. Visions & Commencement Logistics • The Visions of the Future ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 20th at 6 p.m. at Maynard Jackson High • Commencement will be held on Friday, May 22nd, at 10:30 a.m. at the Atlanta Civic Center • Tickets • Tickets are allocated based on final class size. • Distributed along with cap and gown. • Date contingent upon graduation rehearsal schedule and attendance. • Diploma Distribution • Diplomas will not be distributed on the evening of commencement but may be picked up at the school on the day after graduation.

  16. Visions & Commencement • Graduation is a privilege not a right. • Seniors must complete all APS graduation requirements to participate in senior activities, the Visions and the commencement ceremonies, and to receive a high school diploma. • Disruptive activities anytime during the remainder of the school year will jeopardize participation in senior activities including the commencement ceremony. • Disruptive behavior during senior activities, rehearsals and/or during the ceremonies, failing to comply with the code of conduct and dress code will result in seniors receiving their diploma during a parent conference held with a school administrator in August 2014. • Failure to attend and/or tardiness to graduation rehearsals will result in denial of participation in the graduation ceremony.
