CQR Background and Activities (I) • CQR: Technical Committee on Quality & Reliability • Established in 1986 as QAMC (Quality Assurance Management Committee) • One of the 23 Technical Committees of IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) • Recertified by ComSoc in 2006 (every 3 years)* • Holds annual international workshop, except 1996 and 2003 *18 TCs passed the 2006 recertification; 5 TCs were placed on probation http://www.comsoc.org/socstr/org/operation/techcom/committees.html

CQR Charter • Revised August 2006 • Focuses on and advocates worldwide communications and reliability on behalf of, and within, the Communications Society. • Serves as the catalyst for global awareness and the exchange of information relative to technical and management-related aspects of communications quality and reliability. This also extends to security of the telecommunications network. • CQR technical subject matter includes: I. Service Quality and Reliability II. Network Quality and Reliability III. Product and System Quality and Reliability

CQR: Background and Activities (II) • Three Committee Meetings each year: • Last one: ICC2007, June 27, Glasgow, UK • Today: GLOBECOM2007, Nov. 28, Washington, D.C. • Next one: CQR2008 Workshop, April 29 – May 1, 2008, Carefree, Arizona Meeting presentations and minutes are posted on the CQR web http://www.comsoc.org/~cqr/TC-Meetings.html • Holds elections every two years (2007 is an election year) • CQR Chairman’s Awards since 2004 Criteria upon which recipients were selected include:  • sustained contributions in the field of Quality, Reliability & Security of communications services, networks or systems;  • a demonstration of the core value of a professional society- adding value to others; and  • integrity consistent with that of a role model.

Submission • Papers should describe original work, and be four two-column and single-spaced pages in IEEE conference style. • The cover page should clearly indicate the complete postal and electronic mailing addresses, as well as the phone and fax numbers of the contact author. • Paper submissions must be made electronically via e-mail attachment in PDF format to cqr2008-submission@ieee-cqr.org . • Hardcopy submissions will not be accepted. • For more information, please visit:http://www.ieee-cqr.org/
