  6. Step 1- Size Servo -Quick Product Review Large Capacity 22kW-55kW 2000 rpm max 400VAC only SGMBH 1500/2000 rpm Every motor has one matched amplifier to achieve published performance specs.

  7. Step 1- Size Servo -Quick Product Review What about MISMATCHED motor and drive combinations within the same voltage class? Possible to over or under size motor or amp – “1 up or down rule” without qualification……… “2 up or down” possible in some cases with qualification………

  8. Step 1- Size Servo -Quick Product Review Direct Drive Motor – DDM SGMCS Up to 3kW with 200 Nm of rated torque 150 / 200 rated rpm - 500 rpm max 100/200VAC only – SGDH only (no Legend amplifier!) “Rotary table” motor- cuts across many industries (replacing mechanical indexers, e.g, CAMCO)

  9. Step 1- Size Servo -Quick Product Review Sigma Trac – Integrated Linear Motor Solution – NOW with 400V option STF090120… Up to 400 N of continuous force output – 5m/s up to 5g Loads up to 500 lbs – travel lengths up to 2.1 meters System repeatability of +/- 1 micron MULTI-AXIS SOLUTIONS ARE POSSIBLE

  10. Step 1- Size Servo -Quick Product Review Linear Motor Solution Components Iron Core & Coreless Over 2000 N of continuous force output from a single coil Newall and SIKO feedback brands have been tested with sucess …………… 3rd Party amplifiers can drive Yaskawa Linear motors

  11. Step 1- Size Servo -Quick Product Review Gearmotors Available Using Alpha LP gear heads 2-3 week lead time if it is standard product SGMPH and SGMGH motors only Other Alpha products can be incorporated with a customer design review process – contact Product Engineering.

  12. Step 2 Complete BOM - Catalog Tour Let’s examine the general layout of the Sigma II catalog with some screen shots. Each motor has its own self contained “section” from which you can select every component you will need for a motor + amp system (no controller). Published performance specs. are based on the matched amp. Motor dimensions are readily available in each of these sections. Detailed amplifier specs. (including drawings) are in their own “SGDH” section at the back of the catalog.

  27. Step 2 – Complete BOM – Required Cables Required Cables (every system needs three cables) Power – different cables for different size motors (except SGMAH) Encoder – same cable for entire motor type I/O – three basic options

  28. Step 2 – Complete BOM – Required Cables Yaskawa sells cable assemblies in pre-configured METER lengths Power& Encoder 3, 5, 10, 15, 20 meters I/O 0.5, 01, 02, 03 meters Always have the option to build your own…. ….and if you want custom lengths or cables longer than 20 meters ….build your own is the only way to go. Yaskawa sells connector kits for all power and encoder connections to help facilitate custom cabling.

  29. Step 2 – Complete BOM – Required Cables Let’s look at some more screen shots from the Product Catalog Supplement to detail cable selection Begin with page 23

  30. Step 2 – Complete BOM – SGMAH cables Page 23 Power Cable for SGMAH

  36. Step 2 – Complete BOM – Peripheral Devices Peripheral Devices (except for Regen. and DC reactors) are the same for entire Sigma II family - 30W to 55kW Sigma Win Plus JZSP-WP001 YS-12 Cable Required to run Sigma Win Plus Digital Operator Not required with Sigma II – used outside the panel Analog Monitor Cable Monitor speed or torque on external oscilloscope Absolute Encoder Battery Optional for systems with absolute encoder

  37. Step 2 – Complete BOM – Peripheral Devices Top of Page 25

  38. Step 2 – Complete BOM – Peripheral Devices Bottom of Page 25 DC reactors are NOT usually required. What do they do? Reduce input power’s harmonic distortionup to 45% Improve power factor (eliminating nuisance tripping of the DC bus fuse + increase the life of the DC bus capacitors).

  39. Step 2 – Complete BOM – Motor Specifics We have just looked at SGMAH motor section and the components common to all motor series. Now we will examine the specifics relative to the remaining motor series. Page 39 SGMPH
