Put on the character of God (vv. 12,13,15) Mercy - not getting what you deserve Kindness -“I choose you” Humility - being honest about ourselves (Ephesians 2:1) Meekness - refusing to get back at those who wrong you Patience - refusing to give up on someone Forgiveness - “giving someone permission to hurt you again” we must give forgiveness as we have received it from God - freely - v.13c Peace - let God’s Spirit ‘umpire’ your heart (Romans 12:18) Thankfulness – 1 Thessalonians 5:18 - always be thankful no matter what

  3. Clothed with Christ 2. Soak in the Word of God (vv. 16,17) 1 Peter 1:24b-25 & Hebrews 4:12 “Get into God’s Word and let God’s Word get into you”

  4. Clothed with Christ 3. Give out the love of God (v. 14) Because we are selfish - Isaiah 53:6 Because love is messy 1 John 4, we can only love others because God loved us first
