Local Government • Cieszyn is, the so-called, town-district which carries its tasks out with its body such as: local council and a mayor. • An organizing unit of Cieszyn is City Hall with the mayor as its manager. The mayor is a one-man executive power of Cieszyn district. The mayor’s term of office lasts 4 years. Cieszyn Town Hall The Crest of Cieszyn

The mayor’s authority 1) Managing of current city business 2) Competing for the mayor’s city 3) General supervising of Town Hall 4) Coordinating activity within a range: -a country’s defences and civil defence, • counteracting the results of natural disasters and removing their effects, • the promotion of city and information, • foreign cooperation and with the body of territorial government, • registry office records, • control, • industrial safety and fire control, • public order control, • welfare.

  5. Cieszyn City Council Cieszyn City Council is an internal supervisory body. The City Council’s term of office lasts 4 years. The City Council’s tasks are: 1)enacting the statute of district, 2)dismissing and appointing to the position of secretary and treasurer, 3)passing district’s bill, 4)passing local land development plans, 5)passing economic, 6)enacting taxes and charges bills, 7)enacting district’s property bills

  6. District Government • District Government is the second level of territorial government inPoland. It has its own internal structure which consists of: districtcouncil and district executive board. • Prefect is the head of a district and is chosen by the districtcouncil. Prefect and the district executive board constitute theexecutive power of a district. There are 379 districts in Poland
