The Snowy Owl: An Endangered Species at Risk of Extinction

The Snowy Owl, a majestic bird known for its striking appearance, is currently classified as an endangered species. These owls grow up to 27 inches long and typically live around 9 years, with some reaching up to 28 years in captivity. Their diet consists mainly of small mammals, and their population fluctuates based on prey availability. Found from the western Aleutians in Alaska to northeastern Manitoba and Northern Quebec in Canada, Snowy Owls primarily hunt during the day. They face threats from collisions, gunshot wounds, and natural predators. Conservation efforts are essential to help protect this magnificent species.
