  2. Department Coordinator Effort Not Changed Pre Reviewer Effort Changed Post Reviewer Certified! Effort Reporting Roles Certifier The Certification Process • Pre Reviewer reviews effort form w/Certifier • Certifier receives e-mail notification • Log on to ERS system • Certify • - For yourself or • - For someone else • - No change to effort or • - A change to effort

  3. Certification Process Step 1 Upon receipt of this e-mail, click on the link provided Step 2 Enter your PennKey and Password For information regarding PennKey and Password go to http://www.upenn.edu/computing/pennkey/

  4. Certification Process (cont.) Step 3 Click on Certify Step 4 Click on Certify Step 5 Click on the Reporting Period from the e-mail Step 6 Click on the Name to be certified. Note: If you are the ‘Certifier’ for someone else, their name will appear here

View Sponsored Account Detail Information, e.g. sponsor name, etc. Click on Pre Review Details to review adjustments made and determine accuracy View Previously Certified Statements CS - Cost Sharing Companion Account CAP – May appear indicating a sponsor imposed salary cap, e.g., NIH Certification Process (cont.) • Below are various options you have to assist in reviewing the Effort Form • If the Pre Reviewer made adjustments to the effort form you will see an asterisk (*) next to the percent adjusted

Step 7 Review and make necessary changes to effort here Click on Update Form to see results of adjustments prior to proceeding Add ‘Notes’ here for relevant information only, e.g., ‘K’ Award information Step 8 Once Effort Form is reviewed and/or adjusted, click on either Save Form or Proceed Click on Notify to send an e-mail if the percentages are not correct or you have a question

Certification Process (cont.)This screen appears for UPHS Faculty members only paid from a CPUP Interfund A/C If a percentage is present, the Pre Reviewer has already populated the categories Note: If you change the sponsored project effort you may have to adjust percentages here that Pre Reviewer entered Step 9 Upon selecting Proceed, the University Funded Account Summary appears. If some of your effort was spent on ‘Non-Sponsored’ activities, enter % here. When reviewed/updated, click on Proceed to certify effort. For UPHS Faculty Members Only: Insert Number of Average Weekly Hours for ALL activities including sponsored projects prior to clicking on Proceed.

  8. Certification Process (cont.) • Step 10 • Review to be certain all is correct. Click on Certify to complete the process. • Note: Click on Return if you need to make changes Your Effort Form is now Certified!
