Explore the transformative power of grace in leadership as illustrated by the faith of the Centurion in Matthew 8:8-13. Jesus recognized this extraordinary faith and demonstrated that true strength lies in humility and reliance on God's authority. Through grace, we are empowered to lead not by our own strength but through the power of Christ, who supports us in our weaknesses. Join us in understanding that a leader under grace recognizes their limitations and highlights the sufficiency of God’s strength, per 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 and Isaiah 40:29-31.

Matthew 8:8-13 • Only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. • For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come,' and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it." • When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, "Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel! • And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. • But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." • Then Jesus said to the centurion , "Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you." And his servant was healed that same hour.

2 Timothy 1:7not the spirit of fear, but the spirit of power… • What is meant by a “spirit of power”? • He is using the Greek word, dunamis; • Consider the Hebrew mind-set / culture: • “strength” though not limited to physical prowess. • with the general idea of “influence”. • where someone has influence over another. • sufficiency…meant not lacking.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 • He said to me, "My grace is sufficient(cy) for you, for My strength is made perfect in weak-ness." Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. • Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in re-proaches, in needs, in persecutions, in dis-tresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Isaiah 40:29-31 • He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. • Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but • those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint.
Ephesians 3:7 • I became a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effective working of His power.
Acts 4:33 With great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all.
To be Empowered… • You’re better off needing grace & favor; being weak rather than strong • You’re better off boasting of your infirmities rather than of your strengths • You’re better off acknowledging you’re wrong rather than always being right. • You’re better off accepting your imperfections rather than pretending you’re perfect • You’re better off being a “Leader under Grace” rather than a “Leader under Law”.
