Color. Primary Colors. These colors are considered to be foundation colors because they are used to create all other colors. Natural Colors Red Yellow Blue. Secondary Colors. Equal mixture of 2 primary colors Red + Yellow = Orange Yellow + Blue = Green Red + Blue = Purple.

  2. Primary Colors These colors are considered to be foundation colors because they are used to create all other colors. Natural Colors • Red • Yellow • Blue

  3. Secondary Colors Equal mixture of 2 primary colors • Red + Yellow = Orange • Yellow + Blue = Green • Red + Blue = Purple

  4. Tertiary Color Mixture of a primary and a secondary color. • red-orange • red-violet • yellow-green • yellow-orange • blue-green • blue-violet

  5. Complementary Colors Two colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel When used together in a design they make each other seem brighter and more intense.

  6. Not On The Color Wheel What 3 colors are not on the color wheel? • White • Black • Brown

  7. Chroma It measures brightness and dullness.

  8. Value Value refers to the lightness or darkness of an individual hue. It can be changed by adding black or white to a hue.

  9. Tint Add white to make a color • Pink is a tint of red

  10. Tone Add gray to make a color dull • Dusty rose is a tone of pink

  11. Shade Add black to make a color darker • Burgundy is a shade of red

  12. Monochromatic One hue with its tints, shades and tones • ex. red, pink, mauve, burgundy.

  13. Analogous Three or more hues that are next to each other on the color wheel • ex. Yellow – green, yellow & yellow – orange
