  1. Jewelry Maintenance Tips to Prevent Premature Wear Special care should be taken when caring for fine jewelry. This is especially true for fragile pieces that require a little more attention. Below are some of the most common jewelry maintenance tips we recommend for anyone investing in a piece of fine jewelry, old or new. Do not press on stones when taking a ring on or off.  Pull the ring off from its sides. Do not submerge opals, pearls, cameos, or emeralds in liquid jewelry cleaner for more than a couple seconds. Use a soft cloth or brush that is damp with a mild cleanser to clean fine jewelry that should not be dunked in liquid. Do not put antique jewelry or fragile fine jewelry in ultrasonic cleaners. Avoid showering or sleeping with jewelry on. Avoid washing dishes, swimming, or using any type of chemical when wearing your jewelry. Store fine jewelry in a safe place. Keep fine jewelry items separate so they do not rub up against each other. Source:agelessheirlooms.com w w w . e y e o n j e w e l s . c o m
