  6. Volleyball news • The volleyball team lost a tough one to Shaler last night. • The team finished the first half of section play 5-1. • They will begin the second half Thursday at Penn Hills. • Good luck team.

  7. Golf News • OC 220 • Hopewell 227 • A much needed win highlighted by Francesca Corna winning her first high school match • Congratulations, Eagles!

  8. The 1st meeting for Film Club will be on Tuesday, September 24th in Room 209. • Please see Ms. Hudock if you have any questions or if you cannot attend the meeting but are still interested in joining!

  9. Attention:Current NHS members There will be a meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 2:45 in the Lecture Hall. We will be discussing member responsibilities, community service, and a few other changes.

  10. The first MAPS meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept 24th, directly after school, in the study area. • New members received their invitations in homeroom today. • The meeting will take approximately a half hour and please bring any and all service ideas and opportunities.

  11. Reminder for  Maria Goretti Members to meet after school at the Welcome desk at 2:45pm.  • Those who signed up for Wednesday will begin September 25. • Those who signed up for Thursday will begin September 26. • Those who signed up for Monday will begin September 30. • Any questions or concerns email Olivia Belechakobelechak@oaklandcatholic.org.

  12. There will be a parent/student lacrosse meeting for any girl interested in participating in lacrosse this year on Thursday September 26th at 6:30pm in the Cafeteria. All levels of experience welcome!   • Fall open gyms will begin the first weekend of October! • Go Eagles!

  13. Attention Students volunteering at Schenley Gardens this Wednesday. We are meeting in the cafeteria at 3:00.

Attention Freshmen who want to run for Student Council: • Please plan to attend an informational meeting on the duties of the council class offices and senators on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 2:35 in the Lecture Hall. Please plan on being at the meeting until 3:15 PM. You will be given important forms for running for officer or senator positions at the meeting.

  17. Interested in international affairs, public speaking, debate, or diplomacy? • Then become a member of OC's Model United Nations team. • Our first meeting will be held next Thursday, September 26th, in Mr. DeFilippo's room, 207.

  18. There will be a mandatory meeting for any Juniors or Seniors who want to be class retreat leaders. The meeting is on Monday, September 30th at 2:45 in the Lecture Hall.  

  19. Students interested in joining the Anatomy Club this year should come to the first meeting on Thursday, September 26th after school from 2:35 until 3:30 in the Dinardo Lecture Hall. See Ms. Mosley if you are unable to attend.

  21. The 47th Annual Duquesne University College Fair will be held at the A.J. Palumbo Center on Sunday, October 13th from 1PM to 3PM Over 150 colleges and universities will be in attendance.  This is a great way to meet with representatives from a variety of schools No registration is required.

  22. The Oakland Catholic Crosscountry Team placed 3rd out of 30 teams at the Altoona Invitational this past Saturday. • MakenzieZeh finished 13th and medaled along with 5 other team members. • Freshmen Lindy Brennan finished 1st and Francesca Bowser finished 2nd as the JV team won the JV race. • Five other JV team members also medaled in the race.  • Congratulations to all of the Varsity and JV Team members for the great finish in Altoona.

  23. The Eagles Soccer team climbed back into the playoff race with a 5-0 Section 3 win over visiting Allderdice on Friday.   Freshman Essence Canady registered three goals.  The other goals came from Sophomore Taylor Renk and Junior Shannon McSteen.  The Eagles travel to Fox Chapel for a big contest tonight.  Good Luck Eagles!!!

  24. If you're still looking for a sport or activity for this school year, the rowing team is taking new members from any grade and welcomes anyone who is interested to attend a practice and try it out! • Novice rowing practices are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 5:30-8pm and Saturday, 8-11am. • All grades are welcome. • If interested, feel free to talk to any of the current rowers, captains Juliana Fellowes and Christina Moody, or the front office for coaches' contact information.
