  2. The objective of this series is to provide elite and junior orienteers with regular opportunities for high performance competition within Victoria Southern Cross Series • A series of races consisting of existing high quality local events and some low key but high quality additional races (set by Nuggets members). • Designed to encourage elite orienteers to race together more often and develop skills required for NOL races. • All close to orienteers residing in Victoria • Team based competition. At least 2 teams will compete in each race. Vic Metro and Vic Country open to OV members. Other NOL teams are welcome to enter teams in the Interstate Raiders team in any races. • Each team will have a team manager. • Teams will initially consist of at least 4 M21, 1 W21, 1 M20 & 1 W20 members. Team managers may nominate additional runners. • Where possible, all competitors will start close to each other. All competitors should run the nominated M21 course, unless team managers agree on a more suitable course.

  3. Team Structure Vic Metro • Orienteering Victoria members residing in the Melbourne Metro area for at least six months of the current year. • Includes Werribee Vic Country • Orienteers Victoria members residing outside of the Melbourne Metro area for at least six months of the current year. • Includes Macedon, Ballarat, Bendigo, Gippsland, Geelong Interstate Raiders • Runners from other National League teams may enter any races.

  4. Scoring • Each race consists of at least 7 match races ( 1 for each team member). • All team members must be nominated by team managers prior to the race. Usually by 10:30am for an 11-11:30am start. • If there are 2 teams entered in a match race, then the winner scores 2 points, and the runner up 1 point for finishing. If 3 teams are entered, the scores are 3,2,1 for that match race. • Usual team members who are Organisers, Course Setters or Controllers can claim up to 1 point for that race. • The scores for each match race are then totaled to determine the winning team for that round. • Scores for each round are accumulated throughout the season.
