  1. Our Video Presentation By Zoe, Emily and Nyasha

  2. What our piece is: • News Segment • Social Networking Critique • Questioning what is news? • Societies' desensitisation to wars and violence • Suggested Guidelines: d) A video that creatively explores the possibility of portraiture or self-portraiture.

  3. Why and who our audience is: • To question what people think of news? Commenting on Facebook and the news feed • To also comment on the promotion of the self through social networking. • Our audience is everyone specifically users of social networking.

  4. Social Networking and ‘The Self’ The university of Salford- on social medias effects on self-esteem and anxiety and reported that 50% of their 298 participants said that their ‘use of social networks like Facebook and Twitter makes their lives worse.’ Elliot Panek ‘ the study shows that narcissistic college students and their adult counterparts use social media in different ways to boost their egos and control others perceptions of them. Its important to analyse how often social media users actually post updates on sites along with how much time they spend reading the posts and comments of others. • However the University of Georgia found that people on Facebook had scored higher on self esteem . Effects how you see yourself. • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iryLv3FMKsM

  5. War and 1984 • Using found footage of wars – not recognisable so our piece is timeless • The war is not meant to be won, it is meant to be continuous. Hierarchical society is only possible on the basis of poverty and ignorance. This new version is the past and no different past can ever have existed. In principle the war effort is always planned to keep society on the brink of starvation. The war is waged by the ruling group against its own subjects and its object is not the victory over either Eurasia or East Asia, but to keep the very structure of society intact. George Orwell 1984. • 1984 is a perfect example to use in our piece.

  6. Our current progress • We are going to use the newsroom and have already started recruiting news casters • We have started writing a script • We have filmed test footage • Our logo:

  7. Fashion segment example • This is a reference to Instagram’s ‘#OOTD’ which stands for outfit of the day. • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MRXurFvRyk

  8. Script • Chuck – “Coming up next on the show , we have a very interesting segment . We are now joined by fashion blogger Nyasha Rubwe, and she has an important news story regarding Emily Parsons.” • Nyasha -  “On July the 4th Emily Parsons Instagramed her first hashtag ‘#OOTD’.” • Chuck- “Nyasha, what is an ‘OOTD’?” • Nyasha - “Well Chuck, it stands for ‘outfit of the day’. This week Emily dazzled us all with her outfit of the day. I was truly inspired Chuck. So, we thought that we would show everyone how to re-create her look.” • Suzanne - “Emily does have great style. So, where are we starting?” • Nyasha - “Today we have Charli modelling Emily's classic green coat. Now, this is a piece which everyone should have in their wardrobe: It’s classic, elegant and goes with anything. This is available from Topshop for only £60!”

  9. Charlie Brooker’s How to Report The News – News Wipe • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHun58mz3vI • Perfect example of the conventions of newscasting which we would like to follow in our piece and have tried to in our test footage.
