  1. Good Afternoon! • Have out your front load response- illustration or video representing INERTIA. • Also have ready your Science Book, Journal, Pen/Pencil.

  2. Agenda • Objective • Anticipation Guide • Set up Activity 79 • Getting Started • Activity 79 • Homework

  3. Objective • Students will be able to predict the effect of inertia on the movement of a marble around a curve

  4. Anticipation Guide • Please copy the questions in your journal and then write if the statement is true or false. • 1. The heavier the car, the more force is needed to make it speed up. • 2. A force is always needed to keep an object moving.

  5. 3. A force is always needed to slow down an object. • 4. It takes more force to slow down a small car than a large truck, because the truck is heavier.

  6. 5. When a falling object hits the ground, the ground applies an upward force on the object. • 6. Friction exists only when two solid objects rub against each other.

  7. Activity 79 • Date: 2/27/12 • Challenge Question: • Getting Started: What is inertia? Write your description of your front load response.

  8. Pre-lab • Inertia-

  9. Introduction pg.

  10. Activity 79 • Please create your prediction of where the marble to move and draw your prediction on the paper. • Then write your prediction for each part in the data table on your paper

  11. Inertia around a curve

  12. Homework • Make a poster, 8 x 10-copy paper size, of one example of real life situation when Newton’s 1st Law- Inertia applies. • Due Wednesday! • Draw on white paper, colored, NO LOOSE-LEAF
