  3. Research Assistant • A research assistant (RA) is a junior graduate scholar, employed on a temporary contract by a college or university for the purpose of academic research.

  4. Equipment Support Specialist • Equipment specialists support location and ensure that safety protocols and procedures are implemented.

  5. Scientist • A scientist is an expert in at least one area of science who uses the scientific method to do research.

  6. Director of Human Resources • A director of Human Resources has the tasks of: • Hiring (recruitment) • Compensation • Evaluation and Management (of Performance) • Promotions • Managing Relations

  7. Professor • A professor is a term used for any teacher, lecturer, or researcher employed by a college or university.

Internships: The Dansforth Center • The Dansforth Center has created a program that gives students experience with all aspects of modern scientific research, from design to experimentation to reporting. At the same time, we provide insight into the personal qualities of a good researcher, the steps to take on the road to becoming a scientist, and the broader implications of scientific discovery.  In order to achieve these goals, students participate in hands-on research in the lab as well as attending weekly seminars.

Internships: The Dansforth Center • Students from universities across the nation are paired with Danforth scientists and participate in a diverse set of research areas including: • cell biology • molecular biology • structural biology • biochemistry • physiology • developmental biology • genetics • nematology • plant pathology

Internships:Missouri Botanical Garden • The Horticulture Summer Internship Program at Missouri Botanical Garden is open to all undergraduate college students who study horticulture or related disciplines and who are willing to further their knowledge through a practical hands-on work experience.

  11. Internships:Isabella Welles Hunnewell • The Arnold Arboretum offers a spring-through-summer paid internship program that combines hands-on training in horticulture with educational classes. The program offers the opportunity to work directly with an historic landscape and its world- renowned scientific collection of trees and shrubs. Fourteen intern trainees are accepted for 12- to 24-week appointments. Ten interns work with the grounds maintenance department; two are in the Dana Greenhouses, and two in plant records.
