  2. McNair Scholars Are-- • Fired up by research • Persons who want to pursue grad school for a research doctorate (typically the Ph. D.) • Good students • Either 1st generation students from low-income families ORstudents from groups underrepresented in doctoral programs • American citizens or resident aliens

  3. Humanities – incl.English, Music, History, Art, Philosophy, Religious Studies, American Indian Studies Communication – incl. C&J, German, Spanish, Linguistics, Computer Science, Math, Computational Science Social Sciences – incl. Geography, Political Science, Psychology Natural Sciences - incl. Biology, BMB, Chemistry, Materials Science, Geology, Environmental Fields, Physics Aren’t McNair Scholars All Science Majors? No Way!

  6. McNair Is A Curriculum-Based Learning Community Then Dr. Anthony Ratkovitch at the U of MN (Chemistry). Followed shortly thereafter by Dr. Teresa Jentszch (Chemistry) at the U of MN. • Four Credit-Bearing McNair Seminars • The McNair Summer Research Institute • Graduate School Site Visits • The National McNair Research Conference • The McNair Colloquia • Astra: The UWEC McNair Scholars’ Journal Dr. Jeff Miller, our 1st Ph.D. (Psychometrics), successfully defended his dissertation on Thursday, 18 January, 2007. University of Florida-Gainesville. Then Dr. Kevin Bartig (Musicology) from UNC-Chapel Hill.
