  3. 2004 for CIP4 members • JDF is now recognised as an industry standard for sharing data between systems • CIP4 has begun proving the principle with Inter-Operability testing • ICS documents being refined • Specification developments on-going • Lab testing shows broad integration potential • Technical partnerships developing • Jointly supporting the customer (Printer)

  4. JDF – Is it ready to Go? • Point to point solutions now apparent • Prism WIN M.I.S. to/from Heidelberg Prinect in Europe • Prism WIN M.I.S. to/from Creo Prinergy in Europe • First true workflows - being connected • Pre-Press>M.I.S.>Press>Post-Press • Both JDF and JMF now being shared • JDF – Job Planning Data • JMF – Job Performance Data • There are six workflow tours daily on this CIP4 stand throughout GraphExpo proving the principle • Prism WIN M.I.S. included in three of these

  5. Before JDFMIS Workflow Integration • M.I.S. has always served to streamline workflow • Links Customer Service with Production planning • Data validated at source • Data channelled to key users as needed • Removes historical barriers between departments • Allows for improved efficiencies in planning

  11. M.I.S. with JDFExtended Workflow Integration • So what benefits does this broader Integration achieve? • 1. Single data entry point • Electronic Job Bag • Validated throughout

  12. M.I.S. with JDFExtended Workflow Integration • So what benefits does this broader Integration achieve? • 1. Single data entry point • Electronic Job Bag • Validated throughout • 2. Accurate and timely data from the Operations • Automatic data capture from normal machine usage (and set-up) • Recording unplanned costs from changes/remakes • Live Status across M.I.S. user base • Job Performance data for review

  13. M.I.S. with JDFExtended Workflow Integration • So what benefits does this broader Integration achieve? • 1. Single data entry point • Electronic Job Bag • Validated throughout • 2. Accurate and timely data from the Operations • Automatic data capture from normal machine usage (and set-up) • Recording unplanned costs from changes/remakes • Live Status across M.I.S. user base • Job Performance data for review • 3. Releases valuable Time • Data flows throughout the workflow seamlessly • Avoid daily paper (post-it note) chase • Key staff allowed to manage exceptions and look for improved efficiencies

  14. M.I.S. with JDFExtended Workflow Integration • How large a benefit is this to you and your organisation? • This depends on:- • How well you service your customers today • The amount of change management required • Staff buy-in to the concept of workflow improvement • How many times you incur rework, delays, errors or mis-communication in production • Can you actually measure these today? • Happy to discuss further on stand 5223
