  3. Books • Types of Books • Fiction • Non-Fiction • Reference (Can Not Check Out) • Limits • 2 Book limit per person • Books are due after 2 weeks • Books can be renewed ONE time • Make sure you keep track of your books. All lost or damaged books must be paid for!

  4. Magazines • Only Grades 2 – 5 may check out Magazines • Magazines are due in 2 DAYS • Only 1 Magazine per person

Finding a book • Look it up on The MIND • Media Information Network for the Distric • Find it on the ShelfFind books by the label on the side • Fiction FIC XXX(first 3 letters of Author’s last name) • Non-Fiction Number / Author • Use Your Shelf Marker! • When you find your book, place your shelf marker on either side of it before pulling it out. • Check the book to see if it is a Good Fit • If the book is not what you were looking for, you know exactly where it goes because your shelf marker is marking your place.   7. This book contains facts about dolphins • It is Non-Fiction • The author is Kris Hirschmann • What will the label say? 599.53 HIR

  8. “Good Fit Books” Each book has a colored sticker on the side of it. You may pick out books of your color or one color higher or lower. I-PICK I- I Look at a book P- Purpose? I- Am I Interested? C- Comprehension K- Do I Know all of the words? If your color is light blue, you may get light blue, dark blue or purple.

Reading Counts • Quizzes About the Book you Read • Logging On • Username= first last • Password= lunch number • Reaching Each goal will get you a Reading Counts Button and an appearance on REP TV! • Grade K-1 = 5, 10, 15, 20, etc. • Grade 2-3 = 10, 20, 30, 40, etc. • Grade 4-5 = 20, 40, 60, 80, etc.

  10. Rewards for reading • School Goal = 30,000 RC points • If we reach this goal we will have a Reading Celebration • Every 10,000 RC points will also earn a surprise
